Student Discount Logic Pro X
- I'm not entirely sure about downloading it - it might be best going in to an Apple shop and buy a hard copy and get your wife to show her University ID.I actually needed a new power supply for my Mac which is normally £65. I showed my NHS staff card and got £6.20 off, so that should give you an idea of how much she'll say..maybe 10% or so? Might be more for students.0<=' span='>0
- Cheers.I just had a little google and it may actually be that Logic isn't discounted for students :-/'Congratulations on being officially the most right anyone has ever been about anything, ever.' -- Noisepolluter knows the score0<=' span='>0
- I was offered 'a copy' of it but I'd want the updates and whatnot'Congratulations on being officially the most right anyone has ever been about anything, ever.' -- Noisepolluter knows the score0<=' span='>0
That's a shame, it's a great prog.Cheers.I just had a little google and it may actually be that Logic isn't discounted for students :-/0<=' span='>0
It used to be.Cheers.I just had a little google and it may actually be that Logic isn't discounted for students :-/But now it costs £149.99, which is cheap considering it used to be quite a lot more than that - a quick google seems to suggest Logic 9 was $499, current US price of Logic X is $199.0<=' span='>0- Yes they discontinued the student version some time ago. They also don't do upgrade pricing- you buy the current version and when Logic 11 comes out you buy it again. It is still cheaper than the old upgrade pricing so you can't really complain.http://uptheoctave.com

- edited February 2016Logic X was released mid 2013.The next version could be around the corner or it could be 3 more years- there is really know way to know.Apple booted all the external beta-testers when they bought Logic from Emagic (I was one of them). They keep their cards very close to their chest regarding updates- it will land when it lands.Logic 9 worked for ages- it doesn't completely work in El Captian but was fine with Yosemite.http://uptheoctave.com

- You can't tell with apple. Logig X languished for ages with bugs then they borught out 2 updates within 6 months. Then nothing again.I have it, but I find it very awkward to use. I much prefer running reaper on the mac.0<=' span='>0
if I recall correctly, the big difference between student and not student was back in Logic Pro 9 and previous.for example, I got Logic Pro 8 student version. this was £135 instead of £499.
functionally the student and full versions are exactly the same
when Logic 9 came out, it would cost me £135 again to get the student version. but for a 'full' owner it cost a great deal less than forking out 499 again. something like £99. I didn't take Logic 9.
when Pro X came out they basically dropped the price to something like the student price for everyone [around £139 when I goot it I think].
I don't know if there is a student discount for Pro X. if there is, it's usually around 20% to 40%
Pro X is great.. coming from Pro 8 I didn't initially like Pro X at all. but once I got used to it, overall I prefer it. that said, there are still one or two things in Pro thatI prefer
